In 2160 the corporation GeneXis Engineering, a biotech company tapped into the supernatural by accident. While working on a bio-engineering project on a human test subject, a bio-engineer tapped into some unknown DNA in the human genome, triggering the subject’s ability to manipulate what some may call supernatural abilities. These abilities were found to have existed in humans for a long time, but were somehow hidden away, it has not yet been figured out why these abilities were hidden for so long. Could old mythological stories about wizards and magic actually be long lost history? This research changed the world and it’s knowledge on supernatural phenomena.

GeneXis Engineering, over time, has developed a test to find if a subject would be a good fit for magic, it is like an aptitude test for magic. People who pass the test will be allowed to go through the engineering, people who fail are not. Taking the test is free, but the surgery is not in most cases. Some rare cases GeneXis will do the surgery for savant-level exceptions that pass the test free of charge to possibly further the understanding of magic. Those who are extremely interested in magic pay for the surgery, most go on payment plans.
