After the death of Stalin, a close associate of his, named Rodin Zharkov, took power according to the orders and wishes of Stalin for the continued well-being of the Soviets. Zharkov, he believed in the most extreme actions that Stalin took part in, and often told Stalin he should be more stringent in his policies. With Zharkov in charge, the U.S.S.R. began to increase in aggressive actions dramatically.
THE SOVIET COALITION
The Soviet Coalition is one of the two main super-powers in the world. a socialist state that has conquered over most of Eurasia. The country is a one-party state, governed by the Communist Party with Moscow as its capital in its largest republic. The Soviet Coalition is the largest country, it extends across most of Europe and Asia.
FORMATION
Zharkov hated the US and their capitalist ideals, after WWII, America started making campaigns trying to spread capitalism in Europe and Asia, and when he finally came into power he started his campaign to spread socialism. His way of spreading socialism, was much more direct and forceful than America, which caught the attention of the rest of the world. He wanted to show America that the Soviets weren’t taking kindly to their spread of capitalism, pushing back strongly against their campaigning efforts with their own, of sorts.
RODIN ZHARKOV
The beginning of the Cold War was around this time when Zharkov publicly denounced America for their spread of capitalism, stating that it was a threat to the east and Soviets. He began his own campaign, taking countries by force and forcing them to join the Soviets. In this time of conquest, Zharkov changed the U.S.S.R. to the Soviet Coalition due to the forceful union that was changing their land. It was called a coalition because the annexed countries were dissolved into it and they were no longer recognized as separate entities.
This annexation of countries ballooned the size of the already large country. Most citizens of the Coalition were not very happy with the lives they had, but they dare not make it known because of the Coalition’s secret police force. Zharkov’s large division of the secret police, known as the MGB, was implanted in regular society. Defectors, protestors, or even anyone who talked bad about the government would just disappear. It was never publicly stated that you couldn’t talk bad about the government, but it was understood by the public.
AFTER THE WAR
The war proved to be a costly one, with most of the economic spending for the government going towards military. The citizens of the Coalition were living in squalor due to the limited availability of resources, most of them going towards the efforts of the war. Seeing his people suffering
THE REVIVAL
During this period of rebuilding, the technology made during the war made leaps due to the necessity of it. During the time of the ceasefire, what was come to be known as the Revival Period of America, the sophisticated tech made during the war no longer had any use. So all the advanced technology was repurposed and made to serve uses in everyday life. This caused the quality of life to sky-rocket, because during the war, most of the money and technology was spent on the efforts of the war. Now with this assist from technology, people had more time and money to spend elsewhere.
With the boost to the economy, the attitudes of the people started to change. There was an uprising in art and tech during this time, almost a new renaissance in a sense. This was almost like a reset button, people wanted to forget about the war, so they looked to the future, but also looked nostalgically before the war. This view impacted the look of art, architecture, design, and the culture.
This was a time of rebuilding, the war ravished the infrastructure and battles damaged some cities around the Federation. There was major damage in the US region of the Federation to specifically New York, Washington D.C., and Los Angeles during some major battles in the war. Other regions/nations in the Federation were majorly damaged as well, including London, Paris, Tokyo, and more. In America’s Revival, the nation of the U.S. remained in Washington D.C., but it was decided that the Federation needed a capital, so the capital was determined that in the place of the somewhat ruined New York, there would be a rebuilt capital city. It was renamed Neo York City, Neo York, the revived metropolis’ second and new life.
THE PRESENT
It took eras to rebuild back to a prosperous state, all of the Federation helped each other back onto their feet. The union proved to be beneficial to all involved and may have been the only thing that saved many from a total collapse. The many nations of the Federation developed separately, but still connected to the union as large. So each nation still has a unique feel and culture, but is still related with the alliance.
The present world is mostly peaceful, though the Federation and the Soviets are still in a state of tension that looms. Spies aren’t uncommon from either side, but is mostly seen just antagonistic actions, rather than the signs of another war. The Federation is now a futuristic landscape of megacities, interspersed with small towns and cities, large farmlands, and forests. The style of today hearkens back to the look of the roaring 20s, but in the deep future with advanced technology.
